360 South American Adventure – Bolivia Part I Written by: Lindford Lowe

Location: La Paz to Death Road, Boliva

Went on a day trip to cycle the famous Death Road near La Paz. Beautiful scenery surrounded me on the drive there and back. It felt really crazy being up in the clouds and watching the ever changing landscapes going past me. The start of the road was a little frightening, but after a while I became accustomed to the windy rocky trail and started to find my feet. It was quite an experience going downhill for 66 kilometres!

Location: Polques Hot Springs, Uyuni, Boliva

After a very chaotic journey involving a night bus from La Paz I made it to Uyuni where most of the tours to the salt flats depart. The Polques Termal waters are well-known because of its intense volcanic activity. Early in the morning tourists enjoy to have a bath in these healing waters. Felt amazing afterwards due to the 35-40 degrees water!

Location: Salar de Uyuni, Boliva

The 3 day road trip continued to the incredible Bolivian Salt Planes. Amid the Andes in southwest Bolivia, it’s the world’s largest salt flat and was formed as a result of transformations between several prehistoric lakes. Very peaceful and incredibly atmospheric. Perfect for 360 filming!

Location: Laguna Colorada, Boliva

There were many incredible lakes on the road trip, but this was easily my favourite to visit. Laguna Colorada is a shallow salt lake and is located in the southwest of the altiplano of Bolivia, within Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve. This is close to the border with Chile. Breathtaking and such intense colours!
